Applying to become an
Instructor
In reading the following,
keep in mind that this application process is no different than the
screening process which occurs when applying for a job.

Those interested in becoming
a WSCA Instructor must apply in writing to the Registrar.

Applicants must show that:
-
they are proficient in
spoken and written English;
-
they are technically
literate in the subject matter in which they wish to teach;
-
they have taken and passed
the course(s) for which they wish to become an instructor;
-
they have achieved a grade
of 90% or better, if the course has a grading system of evaluation;
-
they have applied the
skills and knowledge taught in the course in the field for a minimum
of one season which, in the case of experienced applicants, may have
been prior to taking the course for which they wish to become an
instructor;
-
they are sponsored by their
employer, which must be a siliviculture company in one of the four
recognized silviculture CUs
-
they have WSBC workplace
insurance coverage which carries over to them during the teaching of
the course; and
-
they have read the job
description and the licensing agreement prior to taking the course.

Applicants must also respond
to questions which explore:
-
the reason they are
interested in teaching;
-
previous and current
teaching they do at work or in their non-working lives; and
- the expectation they
have should they be accepted and successfully complete the train the
trainer program.
